Terms of Service

Last updated: October 27, 2026

Using Moss

Moss is open-source software that you install and run yourself. By installing or using Moss, or by using meetmoss.com, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.

Alpha software

Moss is in active alpha. Features change, and you should expect bugs. Keep backups of anything you care about, including your configuration file and data volumes.

Your installation, your responsibility

You are responsible for the computer or server that runs Moss, for who can reach it, for keeping it updated, and for the data you put in it. If you run Moss for other people, you are responsible for how their data is handled.

Your accounts and AI providers

Moss connects to services you choose, such as Google, and to AI providers you configure. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms, and their accounts, subscriptions, and charges are separate from Moss. You must have the right to connect any account you add.

Acceptable use

Do not use Moss to break the law, to access accounts or data you are not authorized to use, or to attack or overload other systems.

License

The Moss software is licensed under the terms in the LICENSE file in its repository. Those terms govern copying, modifying, and sharing the code. These terms do not replace them.

No warranty

Moss and this website are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose. AI output can be wrong, so check anything important before you act on it.

Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the Moss project and its contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost data, arising from your use of Moss.

Privacy

How data is handled is described in the Privacy Policy.

Changes

We may update these terms. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
